WoW Blacksmithing - Crafting Mail & Plate Armor

Blacksmithing is one of the crafting professions that are available in the World of Warcraft. As a Blacksmith you will need a Blacksmithing Hammer which can be bought at any of the general good or trade supply vendors. You will have a Blacksmith trainer that will allow you to make Blacksmithing one of your professions and you will also be able to learn new Blacksmithing plans which will allow you to make new and better items as you level it up. As a Blacksmith you will need loads of ore which can be mined from the veins that are scattered all across Azeroth and Outland. There are several ways to obtain these ores and the best way is by taking Mining as your second profession so you can gather the ores yourself because the ores are really pricy on the Auction House.

Blacksmithing isn’t that hard to level up if you can gather the necessary resources along the way. As a Blacksmith you can produce nice items which either can be used or sold. At the start you will be learning to make different kinds of Mail Armor and Weaponry. At a certain point you will start learning how to craft better Weapons and Plate Armor. Since Plate Armor and melee Weaponry are very important for Paladins, Warriors and Death Knights, you can say that Blacksmithing and Mining would suit these classes best. At some point your Blacksmith trainer will set you off on a quest to become either a Weapon or Armor specialist.

No matter which decision you make you will still learn quite an amount of both Armor and Weaponry Blacksmith plans. If you do specialize in Weaponry or Armor you will be able to learn several patterns that teach you how to create several rare items. Do know that you will be able to make most of the really good stuff that Blacksmithing has to offer at later levels can be made no matter which path you choose.

At a later level Blacksmithing is very nice because you will be able to create a lot of epic plate armor and special epic weaponry. Most of these items can be sold for loads of money while others will boost the Blacksmith’s own performance. Besides epic armor and weapons you can also create Belt Buckles. These are used by almost every level 80 player so there is a business for these. Once applied on a belt, a socket will appear in the belt and a gem can be placed in there to make the belt better.

You also have the advantage of being able to create Socket Bracer and Socket Gloves. You can apply these two on your gloves and bracers to create a socket in your Bracers or Gloves which will also allow you to place a gem in them. Socket Gloves and Socket Bracer are two items that become soulbound once created which means that the Blacksmith can only use these himself and that they cannot be sold.

Blacksmithing is a nice profession especially for those classes that wear Plate Armor. Especially when you combine it with Mining you will see how easy it is to level it up and at the later levels you can make your profit out of it and create some cool items for yourself, friends, guildies and strangers.
