Mage – The Elements of Magic

A Mage is a great damage dealer who uses mana for his spells. Mages have different types of spells and abilities they use to deal as much possible damage, like Arcane missiles, Frost Bolt and Fire Bolt.

There is a variety of races one can choose if he wants to build up a mage – Human, Gnome and Draenei race (Alliance) and Blood Elf, Troll and Undead race (Horde). A Mage is a nice class to play and is often warmly welcomed by other players in groups and raids. The Mage has several buffs and the most important one is Arcane Brilliance which increases the Intellect of party and raid members. The Intellect buff is not the only reason why Mages are popular. They can also create consumables for themselves and others which otherwise have to be bought from vendors. These special “consumables” a Mage can make will restore one’s hp and mana and are always a need. When it comes to the Crowd Control, Mages can Polymorph any Beast or Humanoid creature. Even though you will find a lot of easy tank & spank fights these days it is sometimes still nice to crowd control a few mobs.

With all these useful abilities and buffs Mages have at hand, they have become one of the ultimate classes in WoW when it comes to popularity but still, what makes them good is their abilities to deal damage. His spells are based on Arcane, Fire and Frost damage. Spells like Blizzard, Flame Strike, Arcane Explosion, Cone of Cold and other damaging spells do damage on multiple mobs and can place a Mage on top of the damage meters. A Mage also has AoE spells like Blizzard, Arcane Explosion, Flame Strike, Cone of Cold, etc. which deal a lot of damage to multiple targets. Great thing about Arcane is that the tree provides the Mage with quite a bit of mana efficient talents, several devastating spells and more. In the past Mages weren’t so fond of using this talent build and Arcane was usually combined with either a Fire or Frost tree. Today, Arcane is used for in PvP as well as in PvE and it offers some useful talents that have mana efficiency and improved damage output. When we talk about Mages who are aiming for pure dps, then we are talking about the Fire talent build. If you follow the talent build you will find out that the tree can provide you with burst damage and yet give you protective shield and slow your targets a lot.

If you prefer PvP to PvE, then you should become a Frost mage. The Mage’s talent trees are fun to play with because you can also combine different talents from different talent trees . By using Frost spells you would also be able to summon a special kind of companion – the Water Elemental that will help you in any fight, either PvP or PvE. All three talent builds could be interesting and fun and what’s more important, you can combine them all as you like or play them separately!.
